As
the owner or leader of a business you make many decisions that affect
your future, the future of those around you and that of the business
entity itself. You have a role that is loaded with responsibility
and each move you make has impact. It is often very difficult or
impossible to see clearly because you are too close to the action.
That's
where I come in. I sit with you and discuss what's going on in your
world. You get an outside perspective because I do not see your
business the way you see it. This is a very important point. It's
the benefit of fresh perspective and a sharp mind that brings change.
Change through action is what you require if you are striving for
more.
Your
answer to certain questions that I ask forces you to teach me aspects
of what you are doing. This and my guidance, shows you very clearly
any flaws in your decision making process. A very powerful way to
move forward.
Here
is a simple example.
I
asked a client what was in a particular filing cabinet and the answer
was; "Its full of quotes that we haven't had time to follow
up."
The
question, why? returned the answer; "because we are busy doing..."
When
I asked "What's more important and why?" the bell rang
and this prompted the instigation of a system to address this issue
which in turn led to many hundreds of thousands of dollars in extra
business.
I
have deliberately used this example because;
At
face value it appears that anyone can do this. It also comes to
mind that the client 'should have' thought of this himself.
BUT
Anyone
can't do this. You need to know what questions to ask. This comes
from experience, being intelligent, understanding people, understanding
business and having the correct combination of skills.
The
client in this case was very 'switched on' and already had a successful
business. He just wanted more. Nothing was done about the filing
cabinet because there were too many other things to do and he didn't
think of it. The 'too many other things' just didn't produce anywhere
near the revenue that the filing cabinet did.
When
you are a client what do you talk to me about?
The
answer is, anything you want and everything that is necessary. From
what staff are doing and how to handle their issues all the way
to how you are implementing systems that make more money or save
time. Often your personal life creeps into your business and many
clients ask for help in this area.
You
are talking with me to stimulate your thinking and to be shown how
to reach your potential. You are being helped with the way your
business works and the way your mind works. They are closely correlated.
The decisions you make can be based on flawed logic and / or emotion.
I show you how to remove yourself from your thinking process and
take a birds eye view.
This
is what I don't do.

don't come in and tell you what to do or how to run your business. |

do not analyze your figures. |

do not analyze your manufacturing or sales systems. |

I
am not a consultant that will leave you with a report and I
don't recommend a course of action. |
I can help you with these things but I don't do them for you. Coaching
is about you doing and me facilitating your action. I prompt you
to go further in to these area's if required. Most people I have
met are perfectly capable of running their business. They just need
a little help in what to look at and a little push to keep them
going. It's lonely when you are at the top of your hill.
